Lake Spafford

I think I may have posted about the arboretum before, but its such a big part of the campus i'm giving it another post.

This is a view of Lake Spafford. It is a very pretty lake, but may or may not be radioactive. The ducks seem to be ok, but other than ducks all you really ever see in the lake are turtles (and the occasional drunk person on picnic day). This is the site of battle of the bands on picnic day and if the weather is extremely warm sometimes people under the influence think its a great idea to jump into the lake. I would not advise this. I'm pretty sure the lake it only a few feet deep and the bottom is covered in duck sludge. I would not know for sure though because I have never been in it. Goal #1 before I leave Davis: go swimming in the arboretum. After I do it i'll let you know.

But aside from the lake a lot of people come to the arboetum to bike or run on the paths, have a picnic, study and usually in my case, sleep. The arboretum has a lot of nice shade in the summertime and it is always very peaceful and quiet. The davis wiki also sites the arboretum as one of the top spots in Davis to take a date.
