Day 13: Tetsu Ramen

Another lazy day today... after we went out last night we didn't wake up until around noon again. But that's ok because it was nice to have one lazy day and be able to sit and do homework. Plus I have been catching up on eating lately and trying to gain back all of those calories I've lost from so much walking around! We've been averaging about 11 miles per day so it was nice to take a break.

I spent some time today researching good places to go and what to eat and I found a ramen place near our house that we decided to go to for dinner. It was quite interesting trying to find it and then even more interesting trying to order the food.

They have a vending machine with no english that dispensed a little ticket and then you could take your ticket into the restaurant to get your food. This was the first time I ordered from a menu that was completely in Japanese and it was actually pretty fun. I just chose something and hoped for the best. I actually get a little bit disappointed now when we go to a restuarant that has an English menu because it's not quite the same experience. I am a little bit disappointed by Tokyo because most everyone speaks english and a lot of the stores and street signs are all in english. If I were ever to move to Japan I would probably start in Tokyo until I learned a little bit more of the language and then move to a more traditional place to have more of a genuine cultural experience.

Anyhow the ramen I ordered was amazing, best ramen I've ever had. I did pretty well for just guessing and pressing a button, haha.
