Today we spent the day researching our topic for our
combined project: the tea house. We visited the Manshuin temple very early in
the morning with our group. This was my first day really experiencing Osaka and
its weather. Unlike the more coastal places we've been, Kyoto is SO humid. It
was raining today at some points of the day, but no matter what you constantly
feel hot and sticky. We had a nice time visiting the tea room though and
bonding more with our group. There were no pictures allowed in the temple of
course, and I'm glad I didn't take any because on one of the walls of the temple
there was a drawings of a scary lady with black hair. Our Japanese friends
translated the sign above, telling us that if you take a picture of her she
will put a curse on you, no thanks.
After the temple we went out to lunch as a group at a
restaurant on their school's campus. This was the first time I had to order
from a solely Japanese menu and kind of guess at what I was going to eat. But I
do have to say that the food in Kyoto is absolutely amazing, I can't even believe
how good the fish takes compared to America. I never eat sashimi back home, but
here it is so good I could eat raw fish all the time.
After another night of working of studio all night we
returned to our awful hotel to drink and go to sleep.
