Left that place and headed to the Imperial Palace in the center of Kyoto, what a big step up. We had a guided tour of the palace and they actually allowed pictures inside.
The architecture is incredible here but I am really in love with the gardens. I can't get enough of these plants. The flowers, the trees, I would be OK with living here.
After finishing at the palace we headed back to the train station to catch a night train to Tokyo. We started the trek at about 3 pm and didn't make it to the station until 6. Never underestimate the length of time it takes to travel in Japan. One thing we have learned to love in Japan are the convenience stores. I would never even think of eating dinner at a 7/11 back home, but here we can't go anywhere without our convenience store meals. They are cheap and quick and the stores are actually really nice compared to those back home. They even have nutrition facts on their bananas, but I can't read a thing.
We've eaten more meals at a 7/11 than we have in actual restaurants this trip. So after several stops along the way to get food we made it on the train to Tokyo. While on the train we passed through Nagoya and I saw a building for DMG MORI where I used to work. It was totally random and I can't believe I actually saw them while I was here, but I wasn't quick enough to get a picture of it.
After the three hour train ride we made it to our new house for a whole week in Roppongi. There is actually wifi here so I am all caught up on the postings and will be able to post regularly again. It was pretty rough trying to survive 4 days with no internet.
