Irn Bru

Last day of the Scotland bus tour. Woke up early, saw more castles... Blah blah blah.

But then, we went on a tour of the famous Tomatin whiskey distillery for lunch. They showed us around and gave us a sample of their 12 year aged whiskey. They showed us how to do a tasting and it was really very good. So now I've had my first shot of whiskey in Scotland.

Can't really remember what happened after that, until we reached another small town that is famous for their ice cream. The picture shows my cone of Irn Bru flavored ice cream to make you all jealous. Irn Bru is the most popular drink in Scotland and due to this drink Scotland is one of two countries where the sales of coca cola does not dominate all other drinks. Irn Bru is apparently a very good hangover cure, but I like it because it tastes like an orange cream sickle pop but then very oddly it also tastes exactly like bubblegum. You won't find Irn Bru in the U.S. however because apparently some of the ingredients have not yet been approved by the FDA. Oops

I finally made it back to my temporary home of Edinburgh and as a last hurrah we traveled up Calton hill to see the national monument. ? Huh? Apparently the structure was never finished because they ran out of money for it.

  1. I have spent quite a bit of time in Scotland and I still have a taste for it. Never knew about the Irn Bru ice cream, interesting idea.
