CA Here I Come!

Today I woke up excited because I finally get to go home and see the sun! I really am sad to go because I had an amazing time throughout the entire trip, and there are a lot of people that I met here that I will not get to see for a very long time! This trip truly was a once in a lifetime experience and I am so happy I have so many pictures and stories to remember it by!

I ate my final hostel breakfast of only toast, and checked out of this discusting place. Woo! I can't wait to sleep in a real bed! I said goodbye to my travel buddy, but I will see her very soon so I had to let her go so she could continue on her journey.

I hopped on the tube to take me all the way to Heathrow. Luckily, the ride there was trouble-free and I had enough money left on my oyster card to get me out of the tube station. I made it to the airport fairly early so I sat around and waited a few minutes before checking in.

Finally I checked in and sent my luggage on its way home, and then headed into the security line. Luckily all this went fairly smoothly as well, and I made it past security fairly quickly. Once I entered the airport there were stores everywhere. I still had over 4 pounds in my pocket that I had to spend before leaving the country. I went and looked around every store and it was a great way to waste time until my plane took off. I spent most of the money I had on some chocolate and snacks for the plane. I ended up having only about 8 pence left over so I did pretty good.

After all this shopping I headed over to my departure gate and waited in line to check in. Once I got through the line they informed us that they had to put everyone on a bus to take us over to the plane. So I got on a bus, and seriously this bus drove around the terminal for at least 20 minutes looking for the plane. We went through tunnels and I swear we were going around in circles, and I almost thought they were going to try and drive us all the way to California. But finally we found the plane and we had to climb up steps to get on to it. I felt like I was getting onto Ryan Air again.

I found my seat, I was stuck right in the middle between a bunch of old people. This flight was a complete disaster. People were complaining about everything, there was a screaming baby in front of me, the guy next to me forgot his heart medication and was freaking out and the other lady next to me could not open anything they gave her so I had to open everything for her. Needless to say, I did not sleep for one second on this flight, and I went through five entire movies instead.

The good thing about this flight was that they were constantly serving us food. I think they wanted people eating as much as possible so they would have less of a chance to complain. As soon as the plane took off they came around with cocktails and pretzels for everyone. Next we had a dinner with beef, salad and a roll. Then the came around with pudding for dessert, then they came around with ice cream. Next they came with breakfast sandwiches, and then we got breakfast tea with a cupcake and some more sandwiches. And right before we got off the plane they gave us candy. I was so full after this. I think that was the most food that I ate in a day the entire time I was in Europe.

But the good news is I made it back to SFO and now I am back in Davis. Now this will no longer be my travel blog and can be converted back into my Davis blog. This of course means that I will once again be terrible at remembering to update.
