Davis Joggers

This is going to be another super Davis-y update because this post will include what I think is the most important art piece in all of Davis. Titled "The Joggers" this statue has been in downtown since 1986. It used to be in front of the historic city hall, which was turned into the police station several years ago, but is now Bistro 33. As you might guess the statue is of two very short people who are jogging past one another. Both are in some very 80's styled clothes as well. But this statue is one of those things that if you are just passing by you don't really take any account of it, but if this particular piece was ever removed I don't really think downtown would look quite the same to me. I remember always seeing the joggers as a little kid and it is a very significant part of the city for me.

I did my own jogging today which gave me the idea to write this blog post. I participated in the downtown labor day race and finished in record time! (For me). A picture of the crowd at the finish is below. The best part of the race was the free breakfast provided by whole foods after it was over. Totally worth it.
