So here is the market in a nutshell: on one side you have all the people trying to sell merchandise or campaign for something. Today there were a lot of people out for the election and I even saw Michelle Obama there. In the middle of the market are all the food vendors trying to sell anything from vegetables and fruits to pastries to pasta, cheeses, kettlecorn... You name it. This section frequently gives out free samples as well. At the opposite end of the market are the actual restaurant vendors who prepare food and sell it on the spot. Places like Kathmandu kitchen, the hotdogger and a Popsicle maker are often there. So as you walk through the market and try to avoid seeing all the weird kids that you went to high school with you can really buy just about anything. My favorite thing is the unpasteurized apple juice that is always completely frozen. It is sooo good and has never changed since I was a little kid.

Far Mar
I know that I have written about the Davis Farmer's Market before, but I think this is the first time I have actually gotten up early and gone to the Saturday market. Contrary to popular belief I do not like to wake up early, but today I rolled out of bed around 10 so I could go experience the market and share my stories.

Once you get your food you can sit and eat on a little patio that they have, or you can sit in the grass in the park and enjoy the views. Which is always what I like to do because people watching is my favorite. There are weird people and children and dogs running around everywhere and it is actually very distracting. And that is pretty much it. If you need something to do on Saturday morning definitely check out the market, but if you aren't going to it avoid the downtown area until it is over because it can make parking be a real hassle.
