99th Picnic Day

So I have not updated the blog in a long time... but I do have a decent excuse. I just have not managed to get a decent picture to go along with the decent excuse yet so you will have to wait to hear it... But in the meantime I had to update the blog today, because yesterday the entire city (and a lot of people from outside the city that don't belong here) celebrated the biggest holiday in Davis: Picnic Day.

This year was the 99th Picnic Day, which is a pretty uneventful year because no one really cares until you make it to 100. But anyways I still had a great time and as usual the parade was one of the best parts of my entire day. The Aggie band-uh of course was a highlight of the parade as well as several other college and high schools bands in the area. They did a great job as usual, despite being in full uniform in the sweltering heat. But hey, at least it wasn't raining!

There were many other floats and organizations present in the parade, but another highlight was seeing a group of DeLoreans drive down the street... surprised these things can still run. Yay, back to the future.

Besides the parade, participants of Picnic Day could also partake in watching the doxie derby races, sheepdog trials, getting free food and swag from many departments on campus including police and fire. And don't forget the free balloons! And oh yea, the day drinking. What?

As far as I know this years' Picnic Day went by fairly smoothly without too much trouble, but I fell asleep by 10pm so I would not be the person to ask. Can't wait to see what happens for the 100th celebration next year!
