Recap: Summer Studio

Now for a quick recap of my studio that happened about 6 months ago, two studios ago. Our post-Japan trip studio was a four week long design and build studio. This was actually probably one of my least favorite studios. It was a lot of work crammed into four short weeks and the topic was really not my thing. Needless to say I was not very happy with my final outcome and am very glad that it went by quickly. I did enjoy a lot of the work I did in Japan, however so it wasn't a total waste portfolio wise. I will show a couple of projects while abroad and while back in LA.

While on the road we produced photographic collages as well as small models derived from our collage technique. My technique I named the "glitch", mean't to signify the overwhelming experience we had in Japan and our experiences as a tourist and not really understanding or fully comprehending everything that was happening around us. We were trying to represent our time in Japan through collage or something like that. I'm pretty happy with some of the images that were produced, although all of my models turned out pretty bad.

Our project once we got back from Japan is even harder to explain and still makes no sense to me to this day. Each student had a parcel of land within a city that either served as a building or a lamp? Our city had to be entirely built out of paper and installed in a gallery show. So all summer we spent building and preparing our gallery show. Here it is, it was horrible.
