So I pretty much jumped out of bed this morning, one to get away from the girl with the plague and also because I really wanted free hostel breakfast. When I got to breakfast I realized I shouldn't really be excited because it was the sketchiest breakfast ever. First of all it was set up at the bar attached to the hostel and they had everything set up on chairs. Like the toaster, and the hot water heater. So I ate six pieces of toast and loaded them with butter until I finally felt full.
After breakfast we went to meet our ozzie friends at the tube station and then we all traveled together to Buckingham palace to watch the changing of the guard. While we were standing in the giant crowd watching the whole shebang we spotted another member of our shamrocker family. Totally random, but we were slowly reuniting. It's weird that we have only been apart for about four days but we have all missed each other so much during that short time!
So after the changing of the guard was over we all traveled over to kings cross station to pick up one more member of our family. Once we found him we all got our pictures taken at platform 9 3/4. This has been such a Harry Potter filled trip for me, which is partly the reason why it has been so amazing. Fulfilling my life goals one step at a time. After this we were all feeling very hungry. We went to go find a restaurant to eat at, but we ended up finding a bar instead so we all sat and talked over some drinks.
Once our bar date was over the family went their separate ways, except for a group of four of us that all went to the Tate modern museum. We all wanted to go see the Damien Hirst exhibit because we heard it was really cool, but when we got all the way to the Tate we saw how rediculously expensive it was and decided it really wasn't worth it. Instead we went to the gift shop and flipped through a book of the Hirst exhibit for free. Once we were bored at the museum we walked to Trafalgar square. And what did we do there? First we went to m&m world and then we ate at TGI Fridays for dinner. M&m world was so incredibly packed with people I couldn't even move. But the inside was decorated really cool so I took a photo. Once we all bought our m&ms we walked across the street to go to TGI's. This was one of the most amazing meals I have had here so far. It felt so good to finally eat a hamburger! And also something other than Subway.
To bring ourselves out of our food comas we walked around Trafalgars square and took some pictures. I included one that I took of the Olympic countdown clock they have set up in the square. After this we took a walk through St. James's park. There were a lot of pretty plants, but there were even more crazy birds. There were all sorts of birds I had never seen before and most of them were evil. And at some points there would be huge flocks of birds that would fly at you all at once. It was terrifying.
When we were ready to escape the birds we met back up with one of our family members and went out for some drinks in Soho. It was a good night just sitting and chilling with all of our friends. We had a fairly early night, but it was well needed because tomorrow I wake up early to see the cliffs of Dover!
