Stonehenge

This morning was very exciting for me because as soon as I woke up, I looked out the window and guess what: it wasn't raining!!

I had planned a tour of Stonehenge for the morning so I was very glad I didn't have to see it in the pouring rain. So I jumped out of bed, got all of my stuff packed and started my walk to the city center of Bath to catch my bus. The walk was very nice because for one it finally wasn't raining, and also absolutely no one was awake that early so I could take a bunch of pictures without ugly people in the way.

I eventually found the meeting spot for the bus after a very long walk. The bus driver was an absolutely adorable old man and a lot of the girls on the bus were very nice. We drove to Stonehenge, which took about an hour, but the drive was absolutely amazing. The weather was so perfect and the whole drive was through the English countryside.

We made it to Stonehenge and the perfect weather continued. Everything looked so beautiful that I took about a billion pictures. I took an audio tour of the site which had a lot of information about how and why the monument was created so I really enjoyed it. It's pretty weird to think that millions of people go to see some 5,000 year old rocks. Luckily we arrived to Stonehenge early because by the time we left it was SO crowded. Our driver told us it was the busiest he had ever seen it in his three years working there. I'm so glad we went in this day though because the sky was just so gorgeous, as you can maybe tell from the photo.

On the return drive, our bus driver took us through several small villages including one called Lacock. Lacock has been the site of many movies and tv shows including pride and prejudice and Harry Potter. This town is so adorable and has not had anything built there for the past 200 years. They are not allowed to have any street lamps or electrical wires showing and all residents who have houses there are paid to upkeep them and move their cars as needed for filming. Sounds pretty sweet.

So while in Lacock I got to see the abbey, which is featured in the photo and this is where several exterior shots as well as classroom scenes for Hogwarts were shot. I also saw the house that was used as Harry Potters' parents house and the spot where Harry and Dumbledore first apparated. Yeah, I nerded out for a little bit.

After Lacock our bus driver to us back to Bath and when I arrived, there was a marching band playing in a park nearby so I stopped to watch them for a little bit. After walking around Bath for a little longer I headed to the train station to catch my train to London! Woo hoo! I was so ready to get out of Bath at this point.

I made it to London about an hour later and then rode the tube to the hostel I am staying at for the next five nights. I was very scared about it. And I had good reason to be.

Sure enough, we walk to our room, open the door and we find three people sleeping and one of them coughing in bed. Why is it that every single place we stay it seems like someone in the room is sick with the plague. I just don't get it. I can't wait to be out of these nasty hostels.

So after we checked in we wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. We literally put our stuff down and ran for it.

I went and got some yummy cheap subway for dinner and we ate at a little park nearby and watched children play. We were eating under a little tree which was very lucky because all of a sudden in just started pouring!! It only rained for a few minutes though and then it calmed down.

After dinner we took a little walk through regents park. This park was absolutely beautiful and having spent the past five years studying plants I was in awe with everything. There were plants and fountains and nature just everywhere. It was fantastic. Once it got dark we just walked back to our discusting hostel and now I am going to bed before anyone in here can infest me with the plague. Ugh.
