Day 17: Anime & Electronics

Spent another morning working, but we have just one more day to go until our presentation is OVER! I'm going to be so relieved once its done.

We took a little break around lunch time to walk around the city. We stopped at the Shakaden Reiyukai Temple and then we headed to Akihabara!

Akihabara is known for being the anime/electronic/video game part of town, and also has some weird shops as well. We started at "Yodobashi Camera" which was the biggest electronics store I have even seen/imagined in my entire life. It was like a giant Fry's electronics that was seven stories tall. When we first walked in there was about half of the entire first floor dedicated just to iPhone cases and right then I was already totally overwhelmed.

I've noticed that shopping here is really a process and it is difficult to do when you are in a hurry or trying to stay together with someone so you don't get lost because there are so many distractions. Plus I have a hard time figuring out what things are since no words are in English so I usually have to pick everything up and look at it to try and figure out what it is. We went to all of the floors of the store and I managed to get out of there with only buying two things and not spending very much money thank goodness.

After that we explored a few of the shops and walked through some arcades just to see them but we didn't win anything. We also went to get some food and just had a relaxing time just discovering places. We also discovered maid cafes which are similar to the cat cafes and anime cafes, but they just have women walking around dressed up in maid outfits. I haven't gone into one of those yet.

We ended our night our by visiting another shrine and saw a crazy cat running around on the roof! Now spending the night finishing this presentation so we are ready to go tomorrow!
